Error in Co-WIN paves way for vax drive at RMLIMS on off day, Health News, ET HealthWorld

Lucknow: An error in Co-WIN portal paved way for the vaccination of several senior citizens and people with comorbidities (in the age group of 45-59 years) on a weekly off day on Sunday at Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS).

The vaccination drive is not being held on Sundays, but due to an error, the portal registered at least 76 beneficiaries and allotted them time and place for vaccination.

When people arrived at the centre, they found that no arrangements had been made.

The beneficiaries registered their protest after which the health department arranged for a special drive.

“We came to know that many beneficiaries have come for inoculation at RMLIMS. They said that CoWIN app has scheduled their vaccination for Sunday. We immediately sent a team and gave shots to them,” said district immunisation officer Dr MK Singh.

Later, some people also reached the hospital to avail the facility after on-site registeration when they came to know that vaccine is being given at RMLIMS on Sunday.

Besides RMLIMS, which was the only government centre to operate on Sunday, vaccination was carried out at 34 private centres in which 974 beneficiaries were given jabs. Among these, 712 beneficiaries were 60 years or above, 179 with comorbidities, 80 health and three were frontline workers.

Empanelled private hospitals can run drive 7 days a week.

All the 137 private hospitals empanelled under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana in the city can run vaccination exercise on all seven days a week, if they have trained staff and enough vaccine in stock with proper facility to maintain cold chain, spokesman of CMO office Yogesh Raghuvanshi said.

“Health department has given training to staff members of these private hospitals for vaccination. The name of hospital is displayed on Co-WIN portal after they procure the vaccine. These hospitals are also required to put up a notice board outside their premises informing people about the date and time of the exercise,” he added.
